Multicore fiber used for high-density wiring in equipment is studied. Conventional optical devices used for wiring in equipment has been based on single-core access, so single core fiber has been used. In order to increase the degree of integration of single-core fiber, a fiber ribbon using small-diameter fiber has been often used. In recent years, light sources and light receiving devices have been made into arrays, and the demand for connecting multiple channels together has started to increase. Although multi-core fiber is suitable for bulk connection, it was predicted that problems would arise in the characteristics if a large number of cores were included in the cladding. This paper presents the results of study and trial manufacture of multi-core fiber for wiring in equipment on the assumption of use in short length equipment. |
