Public blockchains have an extremely slow transaction processing capacity,
which is known as the blockchain scalability problem.
We have investigated our cross-referencing method as a consensus algorithm
for multiple blockchains to improve the scalability and other aspects.
On the other hand, similar methodology has been proposed by blockchain projects,
such as Polkadot and Cosmos.
In this paper, we propose federated consensus to summarize frameworks to
improve the scalability and other aspects.
We also explain that the federated consensus can be classified into two types:
relay-chain type that requires the blockchain in the upper layer and
chain-less type that does not require the one.
Furthermore, we conducted experiments to evaluate the performance of the latency
to finish chain-less-type federated consensus in the cross-referencing method
with a peer-to-peer network of more than 100 nodes.
As a result, we confirmed that the average latency increased by about 3.3 seconds
per node as increasing the number of domains. |
