Formulation of kQ theory for underwater capacitive wireless power transfer
Yasumasa Naka, Masaya Tamura (Toyohashi Univ.) MW2022-20
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) kQ theory is a significant guideline to design a high-efficient capacitive coupler for wireless power transfer. However, a conventional kQ theory cannot explain a frequency characteristic of a power transfer efficiency in a water environment. The efficiency is proportional to a coupling coefficient of the coupler and an unloaded Q factor of dielectrics. In addition, each factor is a constant and monotonically increasing to the frequency, respectively. The capacitive coupler is converted into two coupled lines since the electrical wall generated between the electrodes can be regarded as a reference potential. We formulate a novel kQ theory that can explain the frequency characteristic utilizing the coupled lines.
