(in English) The prevalence of nuclear cataracts in the elderly is high in tropical and subtropical areas.
The environmental factors for nuclear cataracts have been suggested to be the exposure to ambient temperature and ultraviolet radiation. However, only a limited study has investigated their impact.
We developed the computational techniques of thermodynamics and thermoregulatory responses in human and have modeled difference in thermoregulation due to age and birthplace.
In this study, we investigate the correlation between the prevalence of nuclear cataracts and the lens temperature which was estimated by using the computational code based on the weather data in five cities and discuss the impacts of thermal load and ultraviolet radiation on nuclear cataracts.
