Single-mode conditions of chalcogenide glass rib waveguides in mid-infrared region

(in English) Recently, optical integrated circuits are beginning to be actively used in the field of observational astronomy.Chalcogenide glass is attracting attention as a material for such optical integrated circuits, with the aim of extending their use to the mid-infrared spectra. Although single-mode operation is required for such optical integrated circuits, theoretical
evaluation of such operation is still insufficient. We evaluated single-mode conditions of chalcogenide glass rib waveguides for the mid-infrared spectra at the wavelength of 10.6????m using the effective index method, and clarified the single-mode conditions.
