In order to develop high capacity wireless communication network, millimeter-wave and THz-wave devices are intensively studied and various kinds of waveguides used in millimeter-wave and THz-wave band have been reported. Among them, non-radiative dielectric waveguide (NRD guide) which has been proposed by Prof. Yoneyama is one of a promissing platform of integrated circuits thanks to its non-radiative nature. On the other hand, a standard NRD guide supports two
orthogonal modes, such as LSM 01 and LSE 01 and that sometimes makes it difficult to design of NRD circuit devices because mode coupling occurs at discontinuity and bend. In this study, we employ subwavelength grating structure in NRD guide and design single mode wavguide by enhancing the polarization birefringence of guided modes. |
