Adiabatic Quantum Flux Parametron (AQFP) circuits are characterized by a power dissipation of 5 to 6 orders less than CMOS circuits and operation at 5 to 10 GHz. However, the AQFP circuit is a new superconductor logic family, and a full-featured arithmetic circuit has not been fully studied. Since multipliers play an important role in digital signal processing, image processing, and scientific calculations, we investigated the design of multipliers based on various calculation algorithms using AQFP logic. In this study, we designed five types of multipliers (array, Wallace tree, Dadda, Booth, Modified Booth) and compared their performance and circuit dimensions at 4 to 16 bits. The performance was evaluated in terms of the phase number. The 4-bit scale comparison showed that the Wallace tree multiplier was the best in terms of both performance and circuit dimensions, while the Dadda and Modified Booth multipliers were the best in the 8-bit scale and the 16-bit scales, respectively. |
