Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The nondestructive monitoring of the crop growth is effective for the succession of the agricultural knowledge accumulated to date and the measure against the unusual weather. In this study, we report the results of the estimation of nitrate ion concentrations in komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach) leaves from their autofluorescence lifetimes in the >640 nm region. The nitrate concentrations are estimated from the lifetimes with a coefficient of determination of 0.78 for komatsuna cultivated in summer. The sensitivity limit of the nitrate concentration for our apparatus is estimated to be around 3000 mg/L.
