Performance Evaluation of Switching Method of Media Access Control for Improving Fairness of Throughput between WLAN systems

(in English) By widespread of a mobile access point (AP) and smart phone with tethering function, a situation where a lot of Wireless LAN (WLAN) systems are densely placed in conference rooms and cafes has become an usual condition.
In this situation, duplicate (same) channels are often used in 2.4Ghz band due to limited bandwidth.
In addition, the adjacent channels which interfere other channels are also used.
And then, if the WLAN uses the channel affected by adjacent channels easily, the throughput of the WLAN can be decreased.
As a result, it is possible that the fairness of WLANs decreases.
Here, the unfairness also occurs by positions of WLAN systems.
In order to overcome the problem, we have proposed a switching method of media access control (we call adaptive SACA) in order to improve the fairness of throughput under adjacent channel interference environment.
However, we have only evaluated the adaptive SACA in the limited situation.
This paper evaluates the characteristics of adaptive SACA in the several environments.
Furthermore, we discuss about further performance improvement of the adaptive SACA.
