Design of a 150GHz-Band Reflector OmnidirectionalAntenna Using a Circular TE11-TM01 Mode Converter

(in English) An omnidirectional antenna is required for the measurement of radio propagation characteristics in the terahertz band. In this paper, we propose a 150-GHz omnidirectional reflector antenna using a TE11-TM01 mode converter and a radiator. The TE11-TM01 mode converter is designed taking into account two aspects: the reciprocity relating to the input-output port exchange and that relating to the mode conversion coefficient between the two propagating modes. Good conversion efficiency from the TE11 mode to the TM01 mode is obtained. The radiator has a simple structure, and the reflector is designed by ray tracing. As a result, an omnidirectional pattern with a 3 dB beamwidth of 18 deg is obtained on the horizontal plane at the design frequency of 158 GHz.
