As one of additional functions in the beyond-5th generation (B5G) mobile communication system, the wireless power transfer (WPT) is an important candidate. It will be applied to power supply for batteryless Internet of Things (IoT) sensors. In this report, 28 GHz band WPT experiments between the active phased array antenna (APAA) with EIRP of 74 dBm and the GaAs rectenna MMIC is demonstrated. The rectenna with an inductive high impedance patch antenna and a double voltage rectifier is fabricated monolithically on the GaAs chip with the size of 1.8 mm square. Measured output voltage of 0.19 V and power of 8.6 uW is obtained at distance of 5 m from the APAA. |
