The signal levels of Ku-band BS broadcast radio waves and JCSAT-5A beacon radio waves have been simultaneously measured at Osaka Electro-Communication University (OECU, Neyagawa City, Osaka Prefecture), NTT Yokosuka R&D Center (Yokosuka City), and satellite base station (Matsuyama City), respectively, at 1 min interval from April to July, 2022. The time difference in rain attenuation occurrence and the site diversity effect are examined among these three stations with relatively long distances of about 300 km to 700 km between eastern and western areas of Japan. As regards about 40 rainfall events measured during this period, rain attenuation occurred in the order of Matsuyama City, Neyagawa City, and Yokosuka City, from west to east with a time difference of about 3 to 5 hours. In addition, the site diversity effects are numerically evaluated using the rain attenuation measured at the three stations during the four-month period, and shown to considerably agree with the ITU-R recommendations in the time percentage of 0.5% over the relatively long distances. |
