This paper proposes a method of estimating the direction of arrival of multiple waves using only RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) by combining a non-uniform array and the hybrid circuit. In the proposed method, the direction-of-arrival estimation is performed by applying the compressed sensing technique to the pseudo-signals computed from the RSSI observed by way of the hybrid circuits. In order to realize the proposed method, a non-uniform array and fixed phase shifters are introduced to extend the degree of freedom and suppression of the false images. Numerical analysis shows that the proposed method can estimate the direction of arrival of two arriving waves with an error of approximately $0.8^circ$ at the 75% value of the root-mean-square error when using a 10-element receiving antenna array, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed method. |
