A Study on Profiled Side-channel Analysis against AES-CTR

(in English) This paper describes profiling Side-Channel Analysis for AES counter mode.
AES-CTR is a mode in which an internally stored counter value is used as an
input to AES encryption.
Due to this configuration, the input value to the AES is unknown to the
attacker, making it difficult to apply conventional side-channel
analysis focusing on a single round of Sbox.
Therefore, analysis must be performed over multiple rounds, which is more
susceptible to measurement/environment factors than usual.
In this paper, we demonstrate the effectiveness of profiling side channel
analysis for AES-CMAC, which is compliant with the SecOC (Secure Onbord
Communication) standard for secure on-board communication specified in
AUTOSAR (AUTomotive Open System ARchitecture) , through experiments using
PASTA, a security evaluation platform for automotive applications.
