Basic investigation of a hybrid 2D/3D system using a holographic light field display

(in English) This research proposes a new 2D/3D hybrid display system that integrates a holographic light field display for 3D image and a 2D display for detailed information in high resolution. This system solves the problems of conventional non-contact systems, such as the limitation of expression in the depth direction and the difficulty of displaying detailed information. The proposed system uses a non-contact user interface that enables the user to operate the system by touching the 3D image displayed in the air. We conducted display experiments on the proposed system and qualitatively evaluated its usefulness in terms of visibility of 2D/3D images, appearance of images due to color change, and usability of demonstration contents.
