Electric field induced motion of magnetic skyrmions and the transformation of topological spin textures

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Ultra low energy control of spin textures is the foundation for information technology. Magnetic skyrmions, magnetic vortexes, and chiral domain walls are typical topological spin textures. Theoretically, topological spin textures interact not only with magnetic field but also electric field, spin waves, and light. Those properties make topological spin textures can be precisely controlled with low energy.
Here we report our efforts to write, driven and elimination of topological spin textures by electric field. We also report the confinement and protection of skyrmions by patterns of modified magnetic properties.
