Continuous Class-F/Inverse-Class-F 2-GHz-Band GaN-HEMT Power Amplifiers Using 1-Port CRLH Transmission Lines

(in English) Highly efficient amplifiers capable of continuously processing harmonics over a wide bandwidth are attracting attention for next-generation mobile communications. However, the conventional design method of using an LPF to control the load impedance from the fundamental (f0) to the harmonics (2f0, 3f0) has problems in terms of circuit size and harmonic control accuracy. In this paper, we report a prototype of a class F high-power amplifier using a method of continuous processing of harmonics with CRLH-Transmission Line and have achieved >70% drain efficiency in the 600 MHz bandwidth while significantly reducing the circuit size compared to conventional methods.
