Quality of Experience (QoE) is important in Internet services, and Round Trip Time (RTT) is one of the indicators. While it is easy to measure the RTT from a host to many destinations. But, it is difficult for network administrators to know the RTT between a third-party user and the destination with which the user is communicating. In this study, we aimed to solve this problem by implementing an algorithm based on the TCP RTT measurement method devised by Hao Jiang et al. on a P4 switch. As a result, we implemented a function to measure the RTT between a source and a destination in traffic forwarded by a P4 switch and confirmed that it works. On the other hand, in an environment where the throughput performance of P4 switches is maximized, we found that there are issues due to the size of the SRAM in the hardware P4 switches. |
