A Study of Active Access-Point Configuration Algorithm under IEEE 802.11n and 11ac Dual Interfaces with Channel Bonding in Wireless Local-Area Network

(in English) Wireless local-area networks (WLANs) have been popular at the Internet access around the world due to high-speed and flexible data transmissions. To enhance performances, the active access points (APs) should be optimized in dense WLAN environments. Previously, we have studied the active AP configuration algorithm under dual interfaces of IEEE802.11n and 11ac with non-channel bonding (non-CB). In this paper, we study the algorithm under dual interfaces with the channel bonding (CB). The CB can increase the performance using two adjacent channels together. Besides, the reduction factor is introduced at estimating throughputs of contending multiple hosts to improve the solution accuracy. For evaluating the proposal, we conducted extensive experiments using the simulator and the testbed system using Raspberry Pi 4B with the external interface for the AP. The results show that the proposal can reduce the number of active APs while increasing the total throughput from the single interface and the non-CB.
