Wall shear stress (WSS) contains useful information for diagnosis of vascular diseases. The WSS estimated by ultrasound would be underestimated because of a low spatial resolution. To improve accuracy of WSS measurements, some studies have attempted to correct the underestimation of the WSS by approximating blood velocity estimated by ultrasound to a laminar flow model. In this report, blood velocity estimated by ultrasound was approximated by the Womersley flow model to correct underestimation of WSS in a case of measurements of stenotic vessels. Experimental results showed that a bias error ±standard deviation of WSS was improved from 57.0±1.7% to 23.8±5.6% by approximation of blood velocity to the Womersley flow model. |
