In this work, the effect of entanglement on the performance and trainability of parametrized quantum circuits (PQC) was investigated. The focus was on special over-parametrized circuit structures.
Networks of that particular structure have mathematically predictable training behaviour in certain infinite considerations.
In particular, the training behaviour was investigated using numerical simulations in order to capture the universality of the network on the one hand and to investigate differences in training and the influence of quantum entanglement on the training behaviour on the other.
In addition, the spectra of the Neural Tangent Kernels (NTK) of the different network structures were evaluated. Finally, strong differences in the ranges of the eigenvalues as well as upper bounds for the maximum eigenvalues could be derived for shallow circuits. |
