In living space, colors that dichromats cannot easily distinguish are used widely. In order to solve this problem, simulations of dichromat’s visual performance and quantitative color analyses have been done. This study focused on subway maps in which a wide variety of colors are used. Then we proposed a method of quantitatively analyzing them in terms of visibility and discrimination. The map is transformed into that simulating dichromat’s visual performance. In both maps, luminance contrast and color difference are evaluated between every line and its background as well as between 2 different lines. A histogram visualization of the difference in parameter value between original map and its transformed one enabled us to find problematic lines and points to be improved, suggesting the efficiency of the proposed analysis method. |
