Radar Detection of Multiple Walking People Using Image-Processing Technique and Generalized Likelihood Ratio Test

(in English) This study presents a detection algorithm of extended radar targets using image features and achieves the detection of multiple walking people in measured data with realistic scenarios. The proposed detection algorithm uses the target extension phenomenon effectively to improve its detection performance. Firstly, in the echo spectrum image, cells occupied by the extended human body target are clustered using an image region detector. Secondly, the decision is then made based on the generalized likelihood ratio test criterion. The performance of the detector is assessed in comparison with two typical detectors on measured data. Experimental results show that the proposed detector possesses the most robust performance in detecting the echoes from human bodies while rejecting undesired clutters, which will provide sufficient information for the following parameter estimation procedure.
