Evaluation Metrics Using Object Detection for Visible and Infrared Image Fusion

(in English) We propose a new evaluation measure for the fusion images between visible and infrared images using object detection focusing on a human being.
The fusion images is used in surveillance systems by taking advantage of each other's strengths, and the accuracy of detection and recognition of surveillance targets improves depending on the quality of the fusion.
Since human figures are particularly important detection targets in surveillance systems, it is necessary to focus on the quality of fusion of human figures when evaluating these fusion images.
However, existing evaluation indices target the entire fusion image for evaluation, neglecting the persons' impact on the evaluation, whose area is smaller than that of the background.
Therefore, we propose a new evaluation index for fusion images by combining an object detection model and an object detection evaluation index.
We have shown in experiments that the proposed index appropriately evaluates fusion images according to the quality of the regions of the person.
