When a packaged FET is operated in a common-drain mode, the negative resistance at the gate terminal is exhibited without feedback networks. Thus, a negative resistance oscillator can be realized by connecting a resonator to the gate terminal. In order to suppress undesired oscillations, an output impedance transformer with suitable load impedance is connected to the source terminal. The microwave power was converted to the DC power with the maximum conversion efficiency of 53% using a prototype oscillator when a positive DC voltage was obtained. |
