Study on firmware update in operation, management and maintenance functions for remote operated optical fiber switching node

(in English) Concatenated loop topology has been proposed for future optical-fiber access service such as 5G or beyond 5G networks. The remote operated optical fiber switching nodes (outside nodes) install at the connection point between the upper and lower loops of the topology connects the fibers to make a communication path between the two loops. Outside nodes are driven by power-over-fiber from the central building. A controller (inside nodes) that remotely controls outside nodes from a central building is needed. Functions required for inside nodes are operation, management and maintenance of outside nodes, and its function needs to be discussed. In this paper, we propose functions for inside nodes to remotely control and operation, management and maintenance of outside nodes, and we focus on the firmware update function, and report the results.
