Performance evaluation of SIGFOX in mobile environments -- Performance comparison in static and mobile environments --

(in English) SIGFOX is one of the LPWA systems that enable wireless IoT simply by having users provide for end terminals. In this report, we compared the characteristics of SIGFOX in mobile environments with those of SIGFOX under static conditions. The characteristics were measured in outdoor high-speed mobile environments (10 km/h to 60 km/h) assuming vehicle use, low-speed mobile environments (2 km/h to 6 km/h) assuming walking and wheelchair use, and indoor mobile environments (1 km/h to 8.5 km/h) assuming robot use. The results showed that a reception success rate of 24% was obtained even at a moving speed of 50 km/h, and that a reception success rate of over 99% was obtained at speeds as low as 6 km/h due to the spatial diversity effect of multiple base station reception. Indoor reception success rates are the same as outdoors under low-speed conditions, but it should be noted that the number of base stations received indoors is reduced by indoor shielding effect.
