In multi-path AIMD-based (Additive Increase and Multiplicative Decrease) window flow control, as typified by multipath TCP (MPTCP), multiple subflows over different paths each perform AIMD type window flow control. In multi-path AIMD-based window flow control, the amount of increase or decrease in window size for each subflow can be adjusted by setting the control parameters (window size additive parameter α and multiplicative parameter β ). It is known that the characteristics of multi-path AIMD-based window flow control are highly dependent on the setting of control parameters. However, it has not been fully clarified how the control parameters of each subflow should be set in multi-path AIMD-based window flow
control. In this paper, we analyze the impact of control parameters of each subflow on steady-state characteristics (throughput and packet rejection probability) in multi-path AIMD-based window flow control, and discuss appropriate parameter settings using several numerical examples. |
