Sound Source Localization Method Based on Approximation of Sinc Function by FIR Filter

(in English) Sound source localization using microphone pairs is a technique for estimating the sound source direction based on the time difference of arrival between received signals. The use of high-frequency bands and extension of microphone spacing are effective in improving the accuracy of the estimation, and a method to directly estimate the time difference of arrival has been proposed. Focusing on the propagation delay characteristics between microphones, the impulse response can be described by a sinc function. In this paper, we propose a method for source localization by approximating the propagation delay characteristics with an FIR filter, making maximum use of the impulse response as a priori knowledge.
