Using hiragana and katakana Writer's verification by Siamese Network

(in English) Due to the measures against infectious diseases of the new coronavirus, the online processing of documents has progressed rapidly, and the shift from personal seal certification to electronic signatures has begun. For this transition, it is thought that a system that can authenticate human handwriting will be necessary. However, it has not yet been put to practical use. Handwriting recognition is a kind of behavioral recognition, and it is considered that the difficulty of authentication is high because the characteristics of a certain individual's handwriting are similar to those of another person's handwriting. In this paper, we propose an off-line character type-independent author matching method using Siamese Network, which does not limit the supported character types. We collected 2 each of 46 hiragana and 46 katakana from 45 people and cross-validated them. We succeeded in suppressing both FAR and FRR to 0(%) and confirmed its usefulness for character type-independent author verification with no restrictions on supported character types.
