Design and Implementation of IoT service federation system using Hyperledger Fabric

(in English) IoT devices and applications inside smart cities are currently managed by centralized (or silo) system, and it is difficult to federate IoT data and services among cities. Data and service federation is an essential capability to achieve data-driven smart cities. Although blockchain is expected to address the fact, only some works introduce actual implementations of blockchain-based IoT systems and demonstrate the system performances. Therefore, this paper designs and implements a decentralized city data and service federation system using blockchain. The proposed system integrates permissioned blockchain, Hyperledger Fabric, into the IoT virtualization system. Through the proof-of-concept test, this paper demonstrates the critical features of the proposed system: interoperability, traceability, and visualization capability.
