We have developed method for source localization using 2 microphones with high spatial resolution. In this method, TDOA (Time-Difference-Of-Arrival) between microphones is estimated by an adaptive approximation of propagation delay characteristics. Then, because the group delay characteristics of approximated filter is used to estimate the TDOA, spatial aliasing does not occur. However, the effect of modeling propagation delay characteristics on sound source localization performance has not been clarified. In this paper, we will analyze the propagation delay modeling of speech signals and find that the sparsity of speech signals affects the propagation delay approximation. Based on the analysis results, we propose a method to remove the sparsity by whitening the speech signal in order to improve the sound source localization performance. |
