National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) has developed a small-vehicle stations equipped with the antenna system for automatic tracking for a Ka band Satellites, it has become possible to build a satellite link while moving. We have already reported radio wave propagation measurements under a high speed mobile environment in a wide area. There is a large impact on the satellite communication by shadowing in satellite communication using directional antenna in Ka band with high rectilinearity in previous experiments. Especially in the city, it is affected by shielding by buildings, etc., and communication becomes impossible. Depending on the urban structure, such as the urban, suburban, and rural areas, the density of buildings will differ, and the effects of shadowing will also be different. Therefore, to understand the propagation path characteristics due to differences in urban structure, radio waves from the BSAT-4a satellite were received in an area of approximately 1 km square in each of the city, urban area, suburban area, and rural area in Chiba Prefecture and Ibaraki Prefecture. We report the propagation characteristics in each environment based on the measurement results. |
