Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Videoconferencing is increasing due to the spread of telework. Regarding the media experience of videoconferencing, it is expected to realize a technology that can provide a better user experience beyond the use of the functions of existing conferencing tools. Videoconferencing has two spaces, one for communication by video and audio (primary space) and the other for texting and viewing documents, etc. (secondary space) There may be differences in the use of the primary and secondary spaces between videoconferencing and face-to-face meetings. We conducted a questionnaire survey of 400 frequent users of videoconferencing to investigate the use of the primary and secondary spaces in videoconferencing from various perspectives. The results of the survey revealed that while many meeting participants expected the other person’s reaction, there was a lack of eye contact due to viewing documents. Based on these results, we confirmed the need for a technology that simultaneously satisfies both requirements for viewing documents and reactions during conversation as a requirement definition for research and development of conference support technologies in the future.
