Proposal for Mini-Batch Learning in Clustering V-SOINN

(in English) Yamazaki et al. proposed a learning method called Self-Organizing Incremental Neural Network (SOINN). This method is an online method that dynamically constructs the network. However, SOINN does not stabilize learning results because the network structure changes depending on the input order. In addition, the performance of SOINN is low for high-dimensional data. Therefore, in this study, we attempt to stabilize the learning results and improve the accuracy by utilizing V-SOINN, which can transform high-dimensional data into a low-dimensional space while preserving the topology, and by incorporating mini-batch learning into SOINN. In the experiments, we compare the discrimination rate and the number of nodes on Optdigits and MNIST character recognition problems to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method.
