[Invited Talk] Trends and Prospects of Free Viewpoint Video Technologies

(in English) This presentation will review previous research on free viewpoint video technology and introduce recent technological trends and future prospects. In the field of computer graphics, techniques for generating realistic free viewpoint images have attracted much attention since the 1990s and have been discussed in two categories: model-based approach and image-based approach. As an extension of these methods, point cloud representation, dynamic mesh representation, and neural network-based ray reconstruction methods have emerged as new methods for generating free viewpoint images. In this presentation, we will look at these technologies from the viewpoint of light field and discuss the future direction of free viewpoint video technologies.
