HOCF: Hyperbolic Optimization Collaborative Filtering

(in English) As LightGCN reaches a very high performance using a very simple structure, a new question arises: why such a simple model can perform well in collaborative filtering. Recently, it is shown that the user and item embedding processes in LightGCN can be reduced to an optimization problem, and therefore the performance can get even better by introducing various optimization methods. Still, the model suffers from the power-law distribution of the user-item interactions. In this paper, we propose a novel hyperbolic optimization collaborative filtering (HOCF) algorithm that introduces hyperbolic space embeddings into previous optimization-based methods. Hyperbolic recommendation is more suited to the graph structure of the user-item interaction than traditional Euclidean recommendation, and our paper is the first paper to do optimization in the hyperbolic space to the best of our knowledge. Experimental results show that our model outperforms the state-of-the-art collaborative filtering models.
