(in English) In various fields of society, the utilization of machine learning (ML) for efficiency and automation is rapidly advancing. The presenter thinks that in order to apply ML to society effectively and at a low cost, it is necessary to consider the effective utilization of available data, the creation of low-cost training data, and how to use ML in consideration of misclassification. The presenters have studied the application of ML to ground strength estimation, land-use classification, landslide hazard area estimation, appearance evaluation of weather-resistant steel, and trend determination of kidney function. For example, for ground strength estimation, the selection of training data is important; for land-use classification, the different map information can be used to generate training data; for landslide hazard area estimation, higher estimation accuracy can be obtained by using more accurate information, for appearance evaluation of weather-resistant steel materials, accuracy can be improved by integrating local judgments; and for trend determination in kidney function, ML has the potential to extract judgment criteria and assist in the judgments of physicians. This talk introduces the results and findings obtained from these applications.
