Experimental Evaluation of Stress Relief Service for Elderly People at Home Using Personalized Videos

(in English) Our research group is engaged in the research and development of a system to support the elderly at home. In a previous study, we developed the "RakuRaku Video Service," which recommends videos that match the interests and preferences of individuals and helps them to relax and relieve stress through watching videos. However, it has not yet been verified whether this service is effective in relieving stress for the elderly. The purpose of this paper is to verify the effect of the Rakuraku Video Service on the elderly through experiments and to evaluate the service. In order to conduct the experiment, we will collaborate with a previous study, PC-Mei, which aims to monitor and support the daily lives of the elderly through voice interaction with a virtual agent, and make the service available from PC-Mei. The experiment will be conducted with three elderly people in their 70s and 80s, and we will obtain their evaluations of the videos they watched and a questionnaire about the service. From the results of the experiment, we will clarify that the service relieves the stress of the elderly. In addition, by discussing the results and clarifying points to be improved, we can expect to improve the effectiveness of this service.
