In this report, our research activities on rectennas for microwave power transfer (MPT) systems are demonstrated. For the MPT to UAVs as drones, required DC power should be obtained with the limited receiving antenna area. Thus, highly efficient high-power rectenna techniques are very important to break the bottleneck of the transferred DC power to UAV. Furthermore, operation frequency should be heightened to increase rectennas’ number in the limited area. For the objective, i) highly efficient rectification obtained by direct connection between rectifier diodes and the circuit-functionalities-embedded antenna, ii) high-power rectification obtained by GaAs E-pHEMT gated anode diodes (GADs) are demonstrated. Furthermore, quasi-millimeter wave rectification with above techniques are demonstrated. |
