A Basic Study on Heel Strike Detection Algorithm in Walking Motion Based on Force Plate Data

(in English) In this study we investigate the possibility of estimating frailty by analyzing walking. The frail state is a condition in which the susceptibility to environmental factors increases with increasing age. Our goal is to be able to estimate the state of frailty from changes in the gait cycle. In this paper, we describe the results of the development of an algorithm for heel strike detection as a pre-processing step. The proposed algorithm was significantly more accurate than previous studies. In future, we will test the proposed algorithm’s validity on new data, especially elderly subjects.
