Brain-computer interface (BCI), which uses electroencephalogram (EEG) to operate external devices, has attracted attention as an effective communication support system for people with severe physical disabilities who have few residual functions. event-related-desynchronization (ERD) has been used for BCI implementation. However, is not known to what extent different movements induce ERD. In the present study, we examined the task "spinning a steel ball" as a suitable task for inducing ERD by evaluating the complexity of the task based on objective indices such as the time required for the task. The right- and left-handed rotation, and the inward and outward rotation were compared. The outward rotation with the dominant hand took the shortest time, and was judged to be a relatively easy task. The task completed in a shorter time showed a suppression of the amplitude of the evoked potential, indicating that it may be more likely to induce ERD. |
