We propose a non-contact heart rate estimation method that incorporates the spatio-temporal dynamics of blood volume pulse (BVP). We utilize dynamic mode decomposition (DMD), which is a method to extract spatio-temporal structures from multidimensional time-series signals based on a dynamics model. To analyze the BVP dynamics exhibiting nonlinearity and quasi-periodicity, we perform DMD on the time-series signals extracted from facial patches in a time-delay coordinate system. Furthermore, based on the spatial dynamics of BVP among multiple facial patches, we conducted regularized optimization to refine DMD modes. These enable the unified exploitation of the BVP characteristics in the spatial and temporal domains. Experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. |
