本研究では,円形コアの側面に円形金属領域または円形ピット領域を配置した2つのタイプのファイバ形偏光子として,1つのコア(Core)と3つの金属領域(Metal)を配置した構造(1c3m)と1つのコアと1つの金属領域の上下にピット(Pit)を配置した構造(1c2p1m)を提案し,伝搬特性について解析した.1c3mと1c2p1mは,いずれもy偏波を伝搬させてx偏波を減衰(消失)させるように設計した.コア半径a_1とコアと金属領域の間隔 d の比(d⁄a_1 )を0.3≤d/a_1≤1.4の範囲で変化させて検討した結果,1c2p1mは1c3mに比べて優れた特性を有しており,x偏波の損失をαx ,y偏波の損失をαy としたとき,αy が最小(αy = 0.131dB/cm)となる d⁄a_1 =1.4で αx と αy の差 αxy(≜αx-αy)は99.81dB/cmとなり,さらに αxy が最大となる d⁄a_1 =0.788では αy を0.517dB/cmに保ちながら αxy = 314.4dB/cmを達成できることを明らかにした. |

In this study, we propose two types of fiber type polarizers with circular metal regions or circular pit regions on the sides of a circular core. One is a type (denoted 1c3m) in which three metal regions are arranged for one core, and the other is a type (denoted 1c2p1m) in which pits are arranged above and below one metal region for one core. Both 1c3m and 1c2p1m are designed so as to be propagated y-polarization and to be attenuated (disappeared) x-polarization. As a result, when the ratio of the core radius a_1 and the distance d between the core and the metal region (d⁄a_1 ) is designed by changing in the range of 0.3≤d/a_1≤1.4, it is found that 1c2p1m has better characteristics as than 1c3m as a polarizer. In 1c2p1m, at d⁄a_1 =1.4 where the loss $alpha$y of y-polarization is the minimum ($alpha$y = 0.131 dB/cm), the difference $alpha$xy (≜$alpha$x-$alpha$y) between the loss $alpha$x of x-polarization and $alpha$y of 99.81 dB/cm is obtained. Furthermore, it was clarified that $alpha$xy = 314.4 dB/cm can be achieved while keeping $alpha$y of 0.517 dB/cm at d/a_1 = 0.788, which maximizes $alpha$xy. |
