In combining multiple radars and receiving reflected waves from targets of other radars, direct waves from other radars are also received, degrading the S/N ratio. In order to reduce these direct waves, it is necessary to form a wide null on the nearby antenna plane. Conventionally, there is an excitation distribution design method that forms a null point in the near field, but there are cases where a wide-planar null is not formed. In this paper, we propose a wide-null forming method in near field region by a phased array antenna. In the proposed method, the evaluation function is defined as the sum of the power in the null
target region in the near field and the difference between the gain at the beam scanning angle and the desired gain. As a result of applying the proposed method to a 256-element array antenna, it is confirmed by analysis that a planar null of less than −40 dB is formed in the null target region. As a result of the experimental evaluation of this method, a null of less than −37.8 dB is formed in the null target region, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed method. |
