Analysis of the Cause of Surge Current Generation with Phase Shift Modulation in the LLC Current Resonant Converter and Method to Reduce the Surge Current

(in English) In this research, it is assumed that the LLC resonant converter is used as an On-board charger, and the pulse frequency modulation (PFM) and the phase shift modulation (PSM) are combined to expand the output voltage range. However, it was confirmed that a surge current occurs in the output current when PSM is operated at a light load condition. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the deterioration of the main circuit characteristics due to the junction capacitance of the secondary diode is the cause of the surge current. Therefore, we proposed secondary short-circuit control and confirmed experimentally that the surge current was reduced.
