Simultaneous estimation of the positions of two close incoherent optical point sources

(in English) Recently, the problem of estimating the positions of two optical point sources has been studied with applications to astronomical observations and biological imaging in view. In the classical approach, the estimation accuracy deteriorates when the point sources are close to each other, but it has been pointed out that it can be remedied in the framework of quantum theory. However, even in the framework of quantum theory, no method has been proposed to estimate two positions simultaneously with high accuracy. In this study, we propose a method to estimate two positions simultaneously using adaptive quantum state estimation whose optimality is theoretically guaranteed.
