[Poster Presentation] Effect of pump laser linewidth on nonlinear quantum interferometric fringes

(in English) Nonlinear quantum interferometers are a remarkable tool for extracting the properties of the sample without detecting the probe photons. In this presentation, we report the theoretical and experimental investigation of the effect of the linewidth of a pulsed laser on the visibility of nonlinear quantum interference detected by a dispersive spectrometer. The theoretical analysis proposes that the imperfect frequency correlation between down-converted photon pairs with pulsed laser excitation leads to reduced visibility of interference fringes. We constructed an experimental setup to compare the visibility of the interference fringe pattern obtained by the continuous wave (CW) and pulsed laser sources. We observed a clear fringe pattern with high visibility for CW laser excitation, even for a large interferometric path difference. However, with pulsed laser excitation, the fringe visibility reduces with increased path difference. These experimental results are in good agreement with the proposed theory. This result will be useful for designing pulsed laser-excited nonlinear interferometers for quantum sensing applications.
