CUBIC and BBR are widely used as congestion control algorithms in the current Internet. When deploying new congestion control algorithms such as Copa and PCC Vivace, it is important to maintain throughput fairness and not to degrade the performance of flows using conventional congestion control algorithms such as CUBIC and BBR, which compete on a bottleneck link. This paper provides a framework to improve throughput fairness when different congestion control algorithms compete on a bottleneck link. We also propose and evaluate an improved version of Copa, designed based on that framework, to improve throughput fairness with CUBIC. |
