An attack that measures the power consumption of an encryption circuit using an EM probe and acquires secret information has been proposed. On the other hand, a method has been proposed in which a coil is mounted in the chip and the magnetic field coupling with the EM probe is detection. This method requires a dedicated analog circuit, which limits the devices to which it can be applied, and the detection distance is limited to the vicinity of the chip. In this paper, we propose a detection method using a ring oscillator that can be composed of digital circuits and capacitive coupling between the wiring outside the chip and the EM probe. By using this method, it is possible to extend the detection range to the vicinity of the wiring used for sensing. In addition, we calibrate the frequency fluctuation due to the voltage of the ring oscillator using the oscillation frequency of the ring oscillator closed in the chip, and show that it is possible to detect it even in an environment when the power supply voltage fluctuates. |
